London Borough of Hounslow

Outcome of Expression of Interest: Not shortlisted

The London Borough of Hounslow is increasingly developing services that can be accessed digitally and are continuously looking at new innovative ways we can communicate with our residents, we are keen to explore how this offering is impacting housing residents who do not have access to computers or smartphones and make limited use of our digital services.

We want to understand whether, if we offered services via Smart Home devices, this might enable more people to engage with us digitally. We would also explore whether there are services that we could offer through this channel which has the potential to enable residents to reap the benefits of technology and maintain independent living.

Our business case would seek to explore whether it would be feasible to offer a low-cost provision of Smart Home Devices and related support with services and would consider the options by which to approach this.  We would also seek to understand whether these devices could assist residents in maintaining their independence through communications, reminders, assistive technology and enabling of some daily activities and we would consult with service providers throughout the Council and its partners to establish which services could be adapted to be provided in this way.
