Using digital techniques to involve more diverse voices to balance the needs of a all users of public spaces at night

Back to Digital Planning Programme Case Studies

Through this pilot the London Borough of Wandsworth pilot aimed to raise awareness around a new Night Time Strategy by using innovative digital techniques to reach the wider community including seldom heard groups and engage those that would not usually be interested in Council consultations.

By developing a digital engagement platform with Commonplace, they created an interactive map and promotional videos as well as photography for the area and art and soundscape exhibitions.

The success of this pilot and hard work of the pilot team was complemented by Wandsworth’s Council Committee when unanimously approved the next draft of the Council’s Night Time Strategy. The committee praised it for the thorough and dedicated engagement work undertaken that had reached never before heard female voices around women’s safety at night.
