How adopting digital tools led to significant resource saving for the council

Back to Digital Planning Programme Case Studies

Harborough District Council partnered with Opus Consult and OpusMaps aiming to enhance their existing planning software into a more-user friendly digital platform enabling a broader range of community voices to be heard.

Consulting on existing and new sites suggestions for open spaces , the platform used emojis, tick box selection answers and the option of free text feedback. With a specific focus on ensuring compatibility with mobile and tablet devices they aimed to drive engagement for those who may not have previously engaged in planning matters.

The consultation platform was also transformed to provide interactive information about planning restrictions, constraints and policies. The introduction of automated feedback to residents about planning restrictions, constraints and policies provided significant efficiency gains.
