A Single Front Door to Digital Services-using a single sign on (SSO)
As a result of fragmented IT development over many years, councils are now faced with a patchwork of online services, often presented through multiple, unconnected customer portals or citizen accounts. Attempts to ‘de silo’ systems or better join things up are often thwarted by the large commercial software houses who are reluctant open their systems to competitors.
We want to understand if this is part of the reason why are channel shift ambitions have not been fully realised and confirm if customers are actively dissuaded from adopting digital methods because it is such a disjointed and complex undertaking at present.
We will seek a solution that is independent of the software suppliers, uses open or widely available technology that organisations will already possess, and one can be re used by other councils in a similar position.
