Both Waverley Borough Council and Surrey County Council have in their corporate plans registered an aspiration for developing their digital strategies with local partners.
We want to identify which service functions are best suited to this aspiration were an effective business case can be made.
From Waverley’s perspective we currently receive a total of 1500 phone calls and e-mails every working day. Allowing 10 minutes to deal with each piece of correspondence would require 20-25 members of staff. If by enhanced digitalisation we could reduce that number by half the costs savings would clearly be very significant.
Sharing this development with another partner could also draw in savings in system maintenance and management.
