South Kesteven District Council

Outcome of Expression of Interest: Invited to apply

Feedback from Officers within our Planning Department has shown that customers often call to discuss issues that are already detailed in publicly available policies/documents because they have difficulty locating the information and ascertaining how it applies to their enquiry. There are examples of purchasable systems: https://maps.sheffield.gov.uk/LocalViewExt/Sites/ProposalsMap/
We also have no centrally visible location to add development sites and allocations to raise the profile of such sites and encourage inward investment. This is a barrier to housing delivery and economic growth. An example of such resource is: https://homesengland.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Shortlist/index.html?appid=ec605cdd233f45348e904df6d406d153
We would like to explore with technical experts and other partners the requirements for developing a user friendly system valuable to all levels of Local Government, not restricted by software providers. Bringing all information into one place, pinpointing the appropriate planning policy, usage, restraints etc relevant to the specific postcode input. This would enable customers to self-serve and seek information at a time and place that suits them, giving them a full picture of considerations. Enable Officers to concentrate on adding value as enquires as required. There would also be the ability to expand this data into Artificial Intelligence, enabling meaningful future proofing and capable of keeping pace with developing technologies.
