Plymouth City Council
Within our South West region we are found to have an ageing population and have identified the need for us to look at Healthy Ageing.
We are looking at our supported living services and would like to investigate how we would be able to facilitate independent living in a safe way through digital enablement.
We would like to work on a falls prevention pilot in order to anaylse the effectiveness of a digital solution / fall detector with a physical solution / support service and Health and Safety advice. The idea would be to reduce hospital admission, ensure more independent living and speed up response time when necessary.
Another enabling piece of technology we would like to trial would be to movement sensors. Some our residents may be inclined to wander or travel when it may not be safe for them to do so. A door sensor or sensor place by their bed may be able to inform support services if they have got up and not returned or if they have not got up when they should have.
We would also like to consider other ways in which IoT and LPWAN could be utilised to monitor the health and wellbeing of our supported residents whilst at home ensuring they live with dignity and independence, but have access to help and support when required.
