Leicester City Council
The Council has an open data platform and wants to develop further on this and make data available that is useful, accessible and can provide the wider community of the City with economic and social benefits. Although many local authorities have promoted the publication of their data, we believe that there needs to be a working hub where we can all exchange ideas and discover how to identify what data is useful, who can reuse the data and how it provides those economic and social benefits.
We’re seeking funding to enable us and partner authorities to collaborate with local communities, universities, start-up organisations, SMEs and software developers to identify valuable and useful datasets that will input to the social and economic development of the City.
The team will also seek to design a hub that will involve all stakeholders. The aim of this will be to disseminate what data is useful, evaluate how the published data has been used, enable sustainable, continuing engagement and inform other authorities of the potential usefulness, or not, of the open datasets.
