Leeds City Council

Outcome of Expression of Interest: Not shortlisted

We want to investigate how we can build on the regional m-card which is the public transport Smartcard for West Yorkshire – and how we could extend this by potentially adding other benefits to the card – e.g. Sports and Leisure access, and access to Libraries. This will be a cross country problem, particularly in large conurbations.

We would collaborate with WYCA (the West Yorkshire Combined Authority) and the five constituent Councils (Leeds, Calderdale, Bradford, Kirklees and Wakefield) to map out our existing provision in terms of user offer, technologies to support and then produce a combined offer for the citizen in line with the different categories of user (student, resident, worker, and visitor).

A Business Case detailing current costs and benefits will be produced. A future data model and architecture will be created to show how these services could be combined to offer a better and more joined up user experience across the Region. Which could then be taken by others and replicated.

Innovation workshops will also be held to better understand and explore different ways of discovering and accessing services from an end-user perspective e.g. Apps, websites, and platforms and how these will integrate into back-end systems.
