MHCLG Digital Planning Programme Funding

The MHCLG Digital Planning Programme provides funding to enable a modern and efficient planning system in England.

The Local Authority projects we fund support the sector in #DoingPlanningDifferently, shifting a documents-based system to one that is data-driven, standards-based, and powered by modern user-centred products and services. Current Digital Planning Programme Funding

We’re growing the Open Digital Planning (ODP) community and want to give more Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) the opportunity to begin digital planning improvements. 

Local Planning Authorities who have not already benefited from funding are encouraged to apply to the Digital Planning Improvement Fund, and receive £50,000 funding and support to adopt modern planning practices within planning data, digital capabilities and development management software.   

Our Funding Service application platform is open now and applications will be accepted anytime up until midday on 30 October 2025. All applications received will then be assessed as a batch. Onboarding for this cohort will begin in February 2026.

While this is not a competitive funding process, we will ask questions to assess your readiness to receive the funding and begin the work.
