Harnessing new and diverse voices

Back to Digital Planning Programme Case Studies

Walsall Council aimed to harness new and diverse voices to collect more diverse feedback from the community to better inform future approaches when planning high streets and town centre upgrades as part of Walsall’s ambitious regeneration agenda for the borough.

Historically, engagement rates with ethnic minority communities within Walsall, those aged between 16 and 40 and those living in the most deprived areas of the borough have been typically low. To tackle this, the council partnered with Commonplace and collectively developed their new engagement platform ‘Have Your Say Today’. This platform has enabled a more transparent and flexible approach to engagement to increase reach and improve sentiment.

Within the first three months of the platform going live the platform has seen more than 1100 visitors showing promising signs to support the councils engagement strategy in the future. To continue on this recent success and website traction the council is currently running a social media campaign to raise awareness of the new Engagement Hub.
