Plymouth City Council

Outcome of Expression of Interest: Not shortlisted

Assessing the supply chain of 3 local authorities we have found a number of single use plastic products which are regularly purchased and have identified a number of items within the council inventory that could be repaired rather than replaced.

Using an online portal / app containing an inventory of products / parts, we would look to develop a sustainable way to order or provide a number of items local authorities require using locally recycled materials designed and locally produced using the fab city / fab lab principles.

We believe this has an extremely wide and viable scale up ability throughout both the public and private sector. Using open source designs for Local Authority supplies we would be able to create and repair our assets rather than replace items such as chairs / signage / marketing materials / name tags / bins / pens / folders etc.

Through this discovery funding we would look to examine and select a small number of supplies we currently order in and look at designing and producing these using locally recycled products through a digital platform which will include design details in order to enable commercial tendering process.
