Understanding council technology to support better decision making

Building a clearer picture of technology in use across local government will help us identify opportunities, understand common challenges and target support for long-term digital transformation.

To do this, we are running a test-and-learn pilot to collect information about the systems your council uses. We would like as many councils as possible to take part.

This data goes beyond the contract data that we have previously collected and will help us build a better understand of technology across local government.

Our vision

The test-and-learn pilot is the first phase of this work. It will help us build towards our longer-term ambition to:

  • create a national foundation of technology intelligence
  • share insights with councils and central government to support better decision making
  • enable sector-wide collaboration and improvement

As we build the intelligence base, we want to work with you to collect data that is accurate, useful and valuable to the sector.

Get involved

The pilot will involve answering questions about the services your council uses. This will help us test and refine how we collect and share this data.

To find out more and register your interest in taking part, join our webinar with the Local Government Association (LGA) on Monday 21 July at 11 to 11:45am.
