Technical Architect

About the role

The new MHCLG Local Digital Collaboration Unit is seeking an experienced technical architect and digital transformation specialist to join a passionate new team in central government. Our goal is to help UK local authorities to overcome common hurdles in their efforts to make the most of technology when delivering digital services. We’ll do this by helping cohorts of local authorities to co-design and deliver some common products that make local services better for users and cheaper to deliver. Products could include APIs for eligibility-checking, service design and procurement patterns for common digital services, and common data standards.

This is a key role in a quickly growing team. The Local Digital Technical Architect will combine deep understanding of local service architectures, local authority cultures and agile product development to guide our new team in scoping out and delivering exemplar products that help local services to move towards more module and interoperable IT infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will be a technical architect with front end development skills. They will be a veteran local service reformer, great communicator and team player who has successfully implemented modular technology in local authorities.
