Please note that the Expressions of Interest closed on 26 November 2021 and the successful councils and council-led projects have been announced.
In November 2021, the Department for Levelling Up, and Housing Communities (DLUHC) launched two Expressions of Interest to find councils who want to improve their planning software, so that it supports the vision set out in the Planning for the Future White Paper.
Councils were invited to submit applications under one of two Expressions of Interest:
- The RIPA/BOPS EOI: Up to £400,000 of funding each was available for new councils to join the project team to design and begin implementing the RIPA/BOPS products. Find out more about the RIPA/BOPS EOI.
- The Development Management Software Pathfinder EOI: Up to £150,000 of funding each was available for councils to upgrade their existing software by working with their current service providers. Find out more about the Development Management Software Pathfinder EOI.
New partner councils must be committed to a vision for planning software that is accessible, interoperable, and facilitates the effective use of data to improve the efficiency and transparency of planning services.
